My Measures Dimensions - SIS Software

My Measures & Dimensions iPhone App Review.

I can't even begin to tell you how useful this next app might have been a few months ago. I was doing a little remodeling to my apartment and needless to say I took the project upon myself. Measuring each wall, the furniture, the carpet, my desk, everything but the kitchen sink, well, that took a lot of my energy and I couldn't get really organized with all the notes on paper.

This is where My Measures & Dimensions would have been a life-saver. If you need to keep track of dimensions, this is for you. You can pretty much use this app for everything from home decorating projects to fun things like keeping track of your little one's height over time.

It's all in the fingers

First off, you need something to measure. You can either take a picture of what's in front of you, or choose one from your Camera roll. The photo can be of any object or person you need to track measurements of. Upload the photo into the app's own library and start adding your measurements right on top of it.

Using only two fingers touch the screen and a line with one arrow at each end will be placed on the photo. You can use your finger to place the tips of the arrows where you like on the photo, and use the question mark in the middle of the line to input the actual dimension. This can be in feet, inches, millimeters, centimeters, meters or yards.

Three types of measurements are possible. One is a straight line, going from point A to point B. One is the angle between two planes (say a bookshelf and the wall) and the other is adding text in the form of notes to the picture.

These three will let you measure pretty much anything you want: width, height, volume, inclination or weight. There are no limitations to how many measurements you can actually apply to any one object (or photo), and, you also have up to 8 different colors to choose from for the measurement lines.

Once you've finished with the photo, hit "Done" and the photos are stored within the app itself. You can rename the photo as you like, as well as create additional folders to store them in, for better organization.

Sharing and printing

Ok, if you still like to see those measurements on paper, the iPhone app lets you share and send your photo, with the measurements, to your email address, from which you can safely print it and have it on paper.

My Measures & Dimensions is the app to have around when you're into a DIY home project. The price seems a bit high, but it may very well be worth the money. It's both great in design and easy in use.

Note: My Measures & Dimensions does not actually measure anything for you. You still need to measure your object/person, but the app provides a great organization for those measurements.
