Songnote iPhone App Review.

When you're surfing the web, there are tons of ways to share the songs you come across. When you discover a video you really like on YouTube, you can easily share it with a single click on as much as 10 different social networks. Email it or share it on your personal site. But what if you're on a bench, in the park, listening to that song on your iPhone that reminds you of your boyfriend, or the first day of school, or your prom, and you really want to share it with someone else? That's when Songnote comes to the rescue.

How it works

Songnote's main purpose is to make music sharing easy, no matter where you are. We all have songs that remind us of different people or moments in our lives. When we hear these songs, we just want to pick up the phone and tell the person at the other end of the line: "remember this?", or "this song reminds me of you,” or "this song makes me feel like we're 19 again.” And that's what Songnote is all about: reliving these moments with the people that matter to you through song sharing.

Let's say you're on the bus, listening to your favorite songs on your iPhone. When a song that really reminds you of someone or something comes up, just turn on Songnote. Select the song you were just listening to from your playlist, write your thoughts about it, and then just share it with the person you know will perfectly understand just what you're talking about. You can post it on his/her Facebook wall or Email it straight from the app. And then just wait for that feedback message telling you: "yes, I know exactly what you mean.”

In need of some improvement

Now, the idea behind Songnote is very romantic, and we can all relate to it. But there's still room for improvement. For example, I would have preferred it if I could listen to the songs in my playlist straight from the app, without having to go through all these unnecessary steps when wanting to share a song. Sure enough, the app will auto-update the current song that you're listening to in the Music app. It's too bad though a basic music player wasn't included with Songnote.

Other than that, the design is simplistic but nice. And, once again, I really liked the idea behind Songnote. But I think it just needs a bit of improvement before reaching its true potential.

One Bite to “Share Precious Memories Through Songs With Songnote”

  1. Hi, I emailed the reviewer but never heard back because I wanted to get more clarity about the “going thru extra steps” since you actually can access the song list through the app? Just curious about the music player bit as well, do you mean to preview the song?  If so we are incorporating that bit into our latest version :) would love to get a response.

Have your bite!
