Take Me To My Car iPhone App Review.

Even though a car is a pretty big thing to lose and/or misplace, finding where you parked it before going for a walk can be a pain, especially when you're in an unfamiliar city or traveling. In comes Take Me To My Car, the iPhone app that lets you record your GPS location, and recall it when it's time to get back to your car.

After struggling to find a parking spot in a crowded unfamiliar city, it's no wonder that you need a map to get back to it several hours later after walking around for a stroll. Take Me To My Car does just that. As soon as you park your car, pin point your position on the map and that's it. The app uses the iPhone's 3G and GPS capabilities to locate your car, and even though you could do the exact same thing with the integrated Maps on the iPhone, it's nice to have a small app that does it similarly and offers a range of other options.

Once you're ready to go back to the car, simply open up the app, confirm your current position and hit "Calculate Route." Take Me To My Car will draw a nice path back to your car and calculate approximate distance between your car and your current location. Why approximate, well, because there are some issues involved in the accuracy of the positioning. The app leaves room for errors, and it will at least get you within visual range of the automobile.

With this in mind, parking in the supermarket parking lot and then asking the app to find your car would be pointless. But first off, I don't think the app was designed to locate the car that's twenty to thirty feet from you. It's not an insurmountable issue, as you at least know the car is close enough to you. Take Me To My Car was designed for unfamiliar cities or or crowded cities where it's hard to find a close parking spot to where you actually need to go. And the app performs well in this respect, and depending on your signal strength you'll get pretty exact directions to where you should be heading.

The app is available for free to download from the App Store so losing your car should hopefully not be an issue anymore.
