A good game can sometimes make your day better, and help you forget all the trouble that’s been bothering you. A good app can help you work faster, be more productive, help you, and your children learn new things every day. And you can find both, anytime, in the App Store. But besides supporting good apps, and games, Apple also supports causes through the App Store. So, starting this week, and until the 7th of December, making in-app purchases or buying some of the most popular games and apps will bring you more than just the pleasure of using them. This will also give you the opportunity to be part of something bigger. To actively contribute to a cause. Because all the money put into these purchases and in-app purchases will contribute to raising more funds to help the fight against AIDS in Africa.

The story

The participating apps and games are extremely easy to spot in the App Store, not only because they are some of the most popular, but also because their defining color, during the campaign, is red. Red icon backgrounds, red items on the icon; it’s impossible not to spot them. Why red? Well, it’s pretty impossible not to spot red, right? But, besides that, (RED) is one of the main foundations that has been raising money and fighting for this cause for almost a decade now. Apple has been one of the main partners of (RED) for all these years, and this year the cause just got a bit more support from Apple, by involving the App Store as well.

The games

And along with it, the companies that have released some of the biggest hits in the App Store have joined the cause. Angry Birds HD makes throwing birds at evil pigs even more fun by adding exclusive levels. Purchase gold bars, and enjoy a new Bubble Witch 2 Saga episode. Get a pile of gems, build fortresses, and win battles in Clash of Clans. Buy the adorable Minion wearing a (RED) lifeguard outfit and get him running in the already legendary Despicable Me: Minion Rush game. Get a Bundle of outfits, cookie, balloons, and other cool items that will only make the Cut the Rope 2 experience even more fun.

Are you looking to make your farm in FarmVille2: Country Escape more Christmasy? Buy a Saint Bernard. Score goals in FIFA 15 Ultimate Team. Face more challenges with Frozen Free Fall. Take care of your virtual family with The Sims FreePlay. Have fun while guessing words from all sorts of challenging categories with Heads Up! Buy new hero outfits in Rayman Fiesta Run. Find out Ida’s Red Dream in Monument Valley. Merge numbers in Threes! Collect monsters in Puzzle & Dragons. Find out if you’ve got what it takes to race cars in CSR Racing. Or create your own celebrity with Kim Kardashian: Hollywood.

The apps

And these are only the games involved in the cause so far. But there are also apps joining (RED). Productivity apps that will just make your life easier, like Clear - Tasks, Reminders & To-Do Lists or Paper by FiftyThree. Education apps that will totally fascinate your kid (and not only him), while helping him learn new things in a fun way, like Toca Town, The Human Body by Tinybop, or Star Walk 2 - Guide to the Sky Day and Night. Or maybe you want to put your singing skills to the test. Find out just how good of a cook you are. Or improve your photography technique. For every skill you want to improve, there’s an app to help and test you. GarageBand and djay 2 for the musicin in you. Over for the photography passionates, and Kitchen Stories Recipes for all of you foodies out there.

16 games. 9 apps. One cause.
