Stay On Top Of Your 3G and WiFi Data Usage

With so much of our lives now spent online and our iPhone becoming our trusty companion for nearly everything and everywhere, one of the issues is data usage and costs. Carriers will normally display 3G data usage information, but you need to go to their website and check that out. Most often than not, those websites are really not mobile-friendly. Not to mention, there’s no real time stats or any data available for WiFi usage. This is where Download Meter comes in. It’s a nice piece of app that will pull together 3G data usage as well as WiFi usage in one easy to navigate window. While its utility can’t be negated, I have some concerns over the app actually becoming a burden in some situations. An extra step necessary when navigating the web, if you will.

Once you donwload the app from the AppStore, you’ll be taken through a nice little tutorial [...]

PDFs have become perhaps the easiest way to share text that is sure to preserve its formatting no matter the viewer. No need to install fonts on your computer to view a PDF file exactly as the owner intended. Before the rise of the mobile, I think everyone was looking at Adobe Reader as the mainstream solution to viewing these PDFs. It was, and still is, unarguably the better choice. But now, in the mobile age, the market is split and the contenders are many. They all say they do this or that, they all boast on their unique user experience and they all strive to provide the best sharing options. Most of them however have one thing in common: they fail at their jobs. Truth be told, you need to spend some hard-earned cash to get your hands on a good app that doesn’t fall flat on its face. With PDF Reader Pro, you might not have to. The [...]

You never know when you’re going to need to record something. An interesting lecture, a lesson you don’t feel like listening in class, or even take an interview for an article for your personal site. This might have been complicated a couple of years ago, when you actually had to carry a recorder to be able to do all these stuff. But now, all you need is your iPhone, which you probably carry around at all time, anyway. And if you’re looking for an even better recording quality, you only need to purchase one app. And this is Voice Recorder.

Voice Recorder is your classic recording app that makes recording easy, fun, but also more professional. You can voice record everything from short interviews to 8 hour conferences. You can make your recordings sound crystal clear, or less professional, depending on the purpose of your recording. And you [...]

I’m telling you. Some day, these phones will put us out of business! They may not be Skynet, but sometimes it feels like they’re in control. And this is due to the continuous advances in technology, everything gets better, smaller, faster. It is the case with WorldCard Mobile, a business card scanning app for the iPhone that uses OCR technology to instantly transfer information captured from business cards to the user’s contacts.

The plot is simple. Take a picture of the business card from within the app. Let it scan and recognize the data on the card. Add a new contact to your Address book. WorldCard Mobile aims to seriously simplify the process of entering a contact in your iPhone’s Address book, looking to eliminate the human hand as much as possible. The fact that they’re not there yet shouldn’t stand in the way of you giving this a try.

WorldCard Mobile [...]

When it comes to money, there are two types of people: the spenders and the savers. And they are easily recognizable by the sum of money they have in their accounts in the middle of the month. While the saver probably spent less than half of his paycheck, by this time, the spender has already seen his empty bank account and started calling all his friends and family to ask them for more money. But whether you are a spender or a saver, no one is as happy at the end of the month as the guy using Economizer.

Economizer is the app that satisfies the needs of both spenders and savers. When walking inside a store, the spender will buy everything and the saver will walk away with two products or empty handed. At the end of the month, the spender will have a new sofa and TV, but a huge debt, and the saver will have a huge bank account, but an old TV [...]

One of the most common questions that people ask themselves when facing an empty bank account is: where did all the money go? If you don’t want to ask yourself this question at the end of every month or keep track of your transactions on pieces of paper that you will inevitably lose, start using PAMO.

PAMO is created to help you manage your income and spendings. To do this, first of all add your account to PAMO. It can be a checking account, savings account, Money Market and a bunch of other options I haven’t heard of. Each of them is color coded for easy reference. You can mark the account Personal or Business and you’re done. You can add as many accounts as you want.

When you’re out shopping, don’t throw your receipts away. Enter each transaction carefully into PAMO and even take a picture of your receipt for easy reference. PAMO [...]
