Voice Recorder HD iPhone App Review.
You never know when you're going to need to record something. An interesting lecture, a lesson you don't feel like listening in class, or even take an interview for an article for your personal site. This might have been complicated a couple of years ago, when you actually had to carry a recorder to be able to do all these stuff. But now, all you need is your iPhone, which you probably carry around at all time, anyway. And if you're looking for an even better recording quality, you only need to purchase one app. And this is Voice Recorder.
What it is
Voice Recorder is your classic recording app that makes recording easy, fun, but also more professional. You can voice record everything from short interviews to 8 hour conferences. You can make your recordings sound crystal clear, or less professional, depending on the purpose of your recording. And you can share your recording pretty much however, and wherever you want. It's as simple as that!
What I particularly liked about Voice Recorder is the background recording option. I always found it annoying to not be able to perform any other tasks on my device while recording something. But with Voice Recorder, if you have iOS 4 or a higher version installed on your device, your problem is solved. Because no matter if you're playing a game, writing an email or surfing the web, Voice Recorder will continue recording for as long as you want it to. And this doesn't prevent you from taking personal calls during the recording. For the entire duration of your call, the recording will be paused, and it will automatically restart after you're done with your call. No need to worry about your privacy, and no need to press pause and record every time somebody calls you.
Make your recordings more professional
What makes Voice Recorder even more professional is the recording time and the ability to configure audio quality. Being able to record for up to 8 hours allows you to use Voice recorder as more than just a tool to record your friend's jokes or a 5 minute conversation over the meaning of life in a bar. You can actually record entire conferences and take interviews. And being able to set the quality of your recordings allows you to use your recordings both for business and personal purpose.
Once you're done with your recording, you can keep it, listen to it, or share it in various ways. As long as it's less than 10MB, you can send it as voice memo by email. You can back it up over the iCloud. Upload it into Dropbox. Share it to SoundCloud. Transfer it to your computer. And open it in Evernote or any player you have installed on your device. Also, for a better storing of your recordings, you can label them and add a text memo to each one of them.
But wait, isn’t there already an app on iOS that has this exact functionality? Why yes, it’s Voice Memos. It comes free with your iOS install and it does background recording, playback and sharing. I do believe it integrates with iCloud and even though it might not have Dropbox support, I consider it a viable option.
With Voice Recorder, you’re paying for a small subset of features that Voice Memos doesn’t already have. These are the ability to configure audio quality, upload to Dropbox and sharing on SoundCloud. I would have to say that I’m not ready to pay $1.99 for something I already own. For others, it might be a different deal, but for me, right now, this is a no-go. Good app, but I fail to see its purpose when considering Voice Memos.
