Big Gun - 9thQ Entertainment

Big Gun iPhone Game Review.

Are you in the mood for a little action? Then, how does being part of a gang and taking out enemies sound like? If you think that you're up for the task, then put your bad boy or bad girl face on, and grab Big Gun from the AppStore.

What you can do with Big Gun

Big Gun is an action game, where you have to take up missions to earn money and experience. There are 3 types of missions that you can choose from, and numerous players that you can fight against. But, first, you have to become the member of a gang. And to do this, all you need is to create an account and choose your character from one of the bad boys or bad girls listed. Then, it's time to pick your side.

You can be part of the Wolf, Dragon or Tiger gang. Each one of the gangs stands for a certain set of values that represent the continent that they control. So, while choosing the Wolfs means being part of the most powerful gang in Europe, the Dragons control Asia, while the Tigers represent America. Next it's time to earn some respect and level up. To do this, you can take designated people out, rob other players, steal cars or choose other players and try to defeat them. And to do all these things, you only need one thing: the best equipment.

All you need is big guns

Equipment is probably the most important asset that a player can have in Big Gun. Because Big Gun is not about actually fighting against another player or stealing a car. There are only a couple of moves that you can make, a couple of seconds to make them, and then it's the other player's turn to attack. But instead of actually seeing the characters fighting, you'll slide your finger across a static image of the character to hurt him. And when he or she fights back, you'll just see blood splashing on the screen, your HP will decrease and you'll be able to get a better idea about what just happened by reading the fight comments that pop out in the left side of the screen. So, you don't need a certain move or hit to be the winner. You just need enough ammo to last until the end of the fight, caps, shirts and health boosters to stay alive, and, of course, big guns.

There are over 500 items and equipment to choose from, each one being suited for a certain level. So while it may seem that having enough money to buy pretty much all you need is enough, you also need the experience (the level) to use the equipment. You earn experience and level up by completing missions and defeating players.

Missions will carry you through 3 different continents and 25 cities, each one waiting for you to take it over. Each city has the same locations, where you can go to complete certain tasks or get help. There are banks, where you can deposit your money to keep them safe from being stolen by other players and to prevent losing them when you get defeated in battle. There are hospitals, where you can recharge your HP. You can purchase equipment and other items from the store. And you'll have to go to the airport, when you are sent for a mission in another city. As for the other locations, like casinos, bars or clubs, you can use them to get protection from the owners or meet your enemies.

More about graphics than about fighting

As you can see, Big Gun is the type of game, where you definitely have to go through the tutorial to make sure that you figure out what you need to do to clear levels and defeat enemies. But although it takes you through all these places, you are given all these tasks that you have to complete in a limited period of time, and it seems that there are so many things that you need to do and remember, in fact, there's not much to do with Big Gun. I mean, all you have to do is choose weaker players than you to fight, and complete tasks that involve doing the same thing over and over again. Choosing the proper equipment and adversary is smartest choice to earn experience and clear levels. And that's about it.

However, although it kind of lacks that sense you action and excitement that you get when you actually have to sweat to defeat your opponents in other games, Big Gun is a game that is worth checking out. Firstly, because when you'll see the graphics, you'll think that Big Gun is to good to be free. And also, because, at the end of the day, it still has a lot more to offer than many games that you have to pay for.
