things-iphone-app-review

Things is more than your average GTD (Getting Things Done) application for the iPhone. I’ve tried many ToDo’s before, some I’ve even posted reviews on, some were discarded minutes after instalation. But I believe these were all necessary steps before moving on to the major league and appreciating true value of a pieace of awesome iPhone software that gets you on your way to putting your daily tasks in order.

At the fore-front, Things looks just like a to-do list. Create items, add notes, set due dates, and once you’ve completed with a task, mark it off your list. All in all, pretty basic features. But with Things you get much more than organizing your daily tasks and routines. The popular task manager for the iPhone adds more functionality while keeping a clean and neat user interface [...]

abracadabra-iphone-app-review

Time for some magic to happen here at Appbite. Yes, I’m talking literally hocus-pocus, and no, I’m not going to present you with an app that shows Youtube videos of famous magicians. Abracadabra is the DIY magic app for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Instead of showing off tricks, the app provides a basic how-to intro into the world of famous magic tricks you can do at home or to wow your friends.

As soos as you start up Abracadabra, behold a list of simple magic tricks to select from. Choose the one that captures your eyes and head on to the next screen, where the trick is thouroughly described in minute details. So far, so not-so-magical, right? But the developers didn’t stop here. They went deaper into details by providing you with another screen where you can see the trick being performed [...]

iown-iphone-app-review

From managing notes, finances and events, we move on to an inventory management app that lets you create and organize virtually everything you own right on your iPhone. iOwn keeps track of your belongings, categorizing them according to the room where they belong. The app lets you keep a solid inventory of every room in your home and office, your car, storage or safety deposit box, and also gives you the possibility to define your own custom location.

iOwn manages the date you enter in a series of containers one inside another (think the Russian Matrioshka doll). You would therefore have your house as one big container (the “location”) with more sections (called “containers”) inside it, each perhaps representing each room of your house. Inside each room, you have a bunch of items that [...]

If you missed out on our reviews of Old MacDonald or Doodle Kids, here’s another interesting puzzle game that your toddlers can have fun with. Designed by parents to keep both you and your toddler happy, Shape Builder is the iPhone and iPod Touch app where the challenge is to put shapes of various animals, objects or figures into place.

The game may not be enitrely challenging (we haven’t tested it on its target demographic, we have to admit), it can prove to be critical in the little ones’ development and growth, while giving you, the busy-busy parent, a few minutes of a breather.

Shape Builder is designed for kids aged three to six, with around 146 puzzles for their enjoyment. The puzzles depict figures and objects that are familiar to the toddler, while the alphabet is spelled out [...]

frogger-iphone-game-review

Yet another classic old school flash game is available for your iPhone and iPod Touch. We probably remember Frogger and the blind spots we see after playing it for hours on end. In this classic entertainer, you help Frogger – the frog – overcome different obstacles to reach the other side of the river bank.

For those of you that haven’t played it before, it shouldn’t be a problem, but here’s the basic rundown of how it works. You have to move the frog from the bottom of the screen towards the top, avoiding busy traffic, getting run down by the speeding cars, in order to get to the other side. Various bonus points are up for grabs by getting on top of the fly or escorting the lady frog to safety. You get to the next level after successfully completing the course with 5 frogs [...]

egg-runner-iphone-game-review

Amidst all the alien invaders, sudoku or tetris-like games lies EggRunner, a fun and innovative game for your iPhone and iPod Touch that’s pure fun in an eggshell. The game requires concentration and skill, but, at the end of the day, one thing is key: balance. Your task is to balance the virtual egg on the surface, don’t let it fall over and avoid all the bugs that might get in the way.

There is certainly one thing that really stands out with EggRunner, and that is the highly detailed graphics. The egg actually looks and behaves like a raw egg, with a perfect flow of the egg white on the surface. Maneuvering the virtual egg is perfectly realistic and it gives the game the upper hand when comparing it to other similar games. The game certainly has a lot more than sweet graphics and realistic animation sequences to it. [...]
