Geometry Stash - Apparent Etch

Geometry Stash iPhone App Review.

I remember when I was in highschool, our Math teacher had us keep a list of the most commonly used geometry formulas and theorems in order to solve problems in the classroom. He actually took it to a point where he would deduct points if we didn't have that stupid piece of paper with us. Idiotic, I know, but back then the iPhone wasn't around and neither was Geometry Stash from Apparent Etch.

Who is this for?

Geometry Stash is just what it says it is: a ready-to-use stash of the most commonly used theorems, postulates and corollaries you'd ever need in your Geometry class. If these words have already put you in the dark, then Geometry Stash may be for you. Consider this! Are you in highschool, either studying or teaching? Do you often find yourself looking for the formula you need to solve that geometry problem? Are you studying for GMAT or other similar Math exam? Then Geometry Stash is a great way to walk the easy road.

A great reference guide

Geometry Stash by itself doesn't solve any of your problems or equations. What it does is give you instant access to theories that you may need to solve that problem in front of you. It's still up to you to figure out which theorem or formula you need to use and then actually apply and use it for your problem.

There's no creative graphics or artwork involved. No specialized controls you'd need to learn. Just tap on the theorem you'd like to learn more of and it will appear on the screen. There's actually just one screen for the entire app. The theorems and formulas are alphabetized and also searchable. The theorem itself can be hidden (or shown) from view by tapping the bottom bar or shaking the iPhone. The app supports both landscape and portrait view, and the app is universal, meaning that the same build is available for both the iPhone and iPad.

My pick for Geometry Stash in terms of what to use it for is actually studying for exams. It certainly beats the flash card system I used for my SATs.

The developers also explained to us that Geometry Stash supports video out. I've personally haven't used this feature, as I don't have the necessary equipment. Presuming that it works as expected, Geometry Stash should come in handy for study groups or teaching in the classroom.
