Remember when you were little and you used to pile up bricks or cards or whatever seemed appropriate, trying to make your pile as high as possible? Now, it would look a little odd if you would start piling up bricks or cards while you’re at the office. But that doesn’t mean you have to say goodbye to the thrill of stacking things. Especially now, when you can test your stacking skills with a single download of Stack King from the AppStore.

Stack King is an addictive arcade game, where you basically have to create a stack of boxes. And you can do all this with just one tap on the screen. One tap, plus a good hand to eye coordination and reaction time. Because these boxes don’t just stand there, waiting for you to pick them up. As they slide horizontally from one side of the screen to another, you have to stop them with a tap, when you think [...]

Sudoku Meets Minesweeper In Rocky Isle

It’s been a while since I played a good number-puzzle game. I used to love their simplicity and, most of the times, the twists that these games brought to old classics like Sudoku or Minesweeper. Rocky Isle may be a bit disappointing in the graphics department, but it’s a seriously great game for the iPhone and iPad.

If you’ve played any type of grid-based numeric puzzle game, you should be able to get the low-down of Rocky Isle in no time. Start out with the easy puzzles and the game has a very low learning curve. The hard puzzles however will have you pinned down in front of your iPhone for a few good minutes!

Rocky Isle is Sudoku meets Minesweeper. You have a grid, separated by lines into islands of different sizes. Every empty square on each island corresponds to one number, and you have to put numbers [...]

Tower defense games never get old, and, if done right, will always have an audience. Fantasy Defense fits right into this category with mind-blowing graphics, a great set of sound effects and an engaging gameplay. At its core, it’s still a tower defense game, but with some simple twists and turns, it’s become more than that and is bound to capture the hearts, minds and iPhones of anyone who dares enter its enchanting and terrifying fantasy real.

The goal of the game is simple: don’t let enemy hoards destroy your gate. Fantasy Defense has three game modes, but let’s just start with the easiest one: Normal mode. In normal mode, you need to clear stage after stage, fighting off enemies and blocking them from attacking your gate.

You’ll need to build up your army to defend it starting from one unit. As that unit kills off enemies, you gain gold, which [...]

Climb The Ladders, Watch Out For The Snakes

Since I’m not that much of a board game fanatic, I had to get my info straight for Snakes and Ladders, a popular classic board game, before giving a shot to Snakes and Ladders World Edition on the iPhone.

The concept behind the game is very simple. You have to roll a die to move on a 10×10 board, numbered from 1 to 100. The first one to reach 100 wins the game. But along the way there are snakes and ladders scattered around the board. If you roll your die and land on a square that has the lower end of a ladder, you will climb up to wherever the ladder takes you and continue from there. If, however, you land on a snake’s mouth, you’ll go down the snake’s curvy body. Some squares will also feature a star, which means you’ll get the chance to roll again.

Snakes and Ladders World Edition for the iPhone brings this popular classic concept to [...]

FlamingIgloo Is Too Flaming For My Tastes

FlamingIgloo puts a spin on the classic tower defense games, whereby you’re not bent on killing endless waves of attackers, but rather your only task is to keep your “tower” together while one attacker shoots flaming balls of fire towards it. Sound good? It really does and I was wicked excited to give it a go, but got really down when I saw the insanely lengthy tutorial and even more so when playing the first level. Why? Read on before judging, I do know the game has received high-praise on the AppStore from others.

As noted before, your only task in this iOS game is to keep your igloo from burning down while a nearby ship shoots at it and never misses. The ship will do two kinds of damage to your igloo and its surroundings. It can either out a whole through your igloo, crack the ice beneath it or start a [...]

The wicked monster has stolen your hat, got up on a drawer, and now he’s throwing stars out of the hat. Do you think you can catch the stars fast enough, so that you don’t wake up the other monster sleeping under the drawer? Find out by downloading Wicked Stars from the AppStore.

Wicked Stars is a wicked cute game, where you have to catch falling stars. But you must be careful not to drop too many, because if you wake up the monster, it’s game over, and you have to restart the challenge. So try to catch as many stars as you can, earn points and clear the level. Also, keep in mind you don’t have to catch every star the monster throws your way. Only the bright ones are precious, while the black ones will melt your hat, preventing you from catching any other star for a short period of time.

Wicked Stars provides [...]
