Star Wars: Commander is definitely my favorite game this week. It’s challenging, it puts your strategic thinking to the test, you build stuff, you battle…it’s got everything it needs to be a super great game. And I really think it’s going to be my new addiction for some time now.

Ups: Star Wars: Commander is a game where you practically control everything. You take care of your Base, build it almost from scratch, and as you gain money and alloy materials, you make it bigger and stronger. How do you get these resources? By using the resources you initially have to build all sorts of Credit Markets, Alloy Refineries, and other buildings that, in time, start making more resources for you to use. And, of course, by fighting battles. You buy Training Camps, upgrade them, and train tens of Chewbaccas, Han Solos, and other [...]

Looks like robots are in, these couple of weeks. After EPOCH.2 was App of the Week until a couple of days ago, this week’s app is yet another robot game called Atom Run. And the story is also pretty similar: after a huge disaster, the only living things left behind are robots, and even they are not as they used to be. After being exposed to radiation, almost all of them have gone mad. The only exception is Elgo, a cute and extremely nice little robot, which you’ll control in Atom Run.

So, your main job in this game is to help Elgo complete his mission. And this is to find and collect all the atoms and molecules that are critical to creating new life. But although Elgo will come across a lot of these atoms and molecules on its way, the road is anything but danger-free. From mad robots to flaming platforms and electrical wires scattered along its path, Elgo will have [...]

Needless to say, The Metropolitan Museum of Art is one of the most prestigious museums in the world. Next to the Louvre, the Guggenheim or the British Museum, the MET is one of those museums you must see at least once in a lifetime. The MET doesn’t need any presentation, any add in a magazine or app to get people to know about its existence. However, there are a couple of apps in the App Store supported by The Metropolitan Museum of Art. And the 82nd & Fifth from the Met app is truly one of the best new apps this week.

82nd & Fifth from the Met is a great educational app. 100 curators talk about 100 works of art that changed their perspective on the world. Every video lasts no more than a couple of minutes, and is accompanied by a series of astonishing pictures or videos presenting the piece [...]

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies looked like one of the most promising games this week, so I was really excited to try it out. Unfortunately, I can’t say it was all I expected. Maybe my expectations were a bit too high. However, I don’t regret trying it out, but I can’t say I would pay to play the other episodes.

Ups: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies is a really nice designed game, with a pretty captivating plot. In this game, you get to be part of a trial, collect clues, hear testimonies and get involved in the process. The game tests your detective skills, and you have to pay attention to every detail. So, when it’s up to you to take control of the situation, you should know what piece of evidence helps, how to prove a contradiction in someone’s statement, and how to interpret certain [...]

epoch-2-iphone-game-review

If you’re looking for an exciting action game this week, then EPOCH.2 is definitely your best choice. With amazing graphics, a complex story and extremely engaging gameplay, EPOCH.2 will keep you at the edge of your seat from dusk ‘till dawn. And this week only, it’s totally free of charge. So, here are just a few of the things that make EPOCH.2 a must play game.

The story behind the game is extremely captivating and engaging. EPOCH.2 is that kind of game where you feel more like you’re controlling the characters and outcome of an action movie, rather than just playing around with virtual weapons and robots. I must admit I haven’t played the first EPOCH game, so for those of you who are already familiarised with the game, the story behind EPOCH.2 won’t seem to you so much different than the one behind the previous game. In a world where only robots were left [...]

Kids want to have fun. What am I saying? Everyone wants to have fun. We want to play games instead of doing boring chores. Watch a movie instead of going to the office. Dance a little instead of going to a formal business meeting. Unfortunately, most of the time, we don’t have the luxury to do the fun stuff instead of the boring ones. And until there’s an app to make even the most boring chore look fun, we’ll just have to make do with what we got. But that shouldn’t also apply to our children now, should it?

The creators of Curious World sure believe that everything can be made fun. At least for a child. Even if we’re talking of one of the most boring chores for a child, which is learning. And Curious World is one of those beautiful, magical apps that turns everything into a playful, colorful activity. The goal: make your [...]

When CityVille meets Family Guy

By Maria Poeana   August - 6 - 2014    See more Apps inApp Reviews, Games & Entertainment   No Comments

Have you ever imagined what a Family Guy inspired CityVille sort of game would look like? It sounds pretty preposterous, I know. I think there have been at least a couple of rude remarks coming out from Peter’s mouth regarding this sort of games. But, obviously, the people at TinyCo didn’t consider the idea preposterous. And they were right to follow their instinct.

First of all, the game is called Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff. I mean, what more could you ask for? Even the title indicates that this game is intended mainly for fun. And then, it begins. After one of the regular massive fights with the Giant Chicken, somehow things blow out of proportion (as they usually do), and the battle ends up destroying all of Quahog. Your job? Help Peter patch things up and bring Quahog to its previous glory. And since we’re talking about Peter Griffin [...]
