Man of Steel is probably one of the most awaited movies of this year. And with just a day left before the grand release, fans must be ecstatic. I know I am. And it seems like the App Store is also prepared for the event, with a couple of pretty cool apps. Some to get you in the mood, before actually seeing the movie. Others to help you keep that feeling you’ll get when going to Man of Steel alive. And they’re all right at your fingertips.

When I came across Kellogg’s Man Of Steel, I must admit I felt a bit ashamed. Because this app has been hanging in the AppStore for almost a month now, and I had no idea about it. Had I known, my house would probably be packed with Kellogg crackers and pop-tarts. Because, with this app, all you need to unlock the super-powers of Man of Steel are the special codes on some of the Kellogg products. Just scan the code you’re asked for, and [...]

Temple Run 2 icon

Every time I meet with friends and they ask me what games I have on my iPhone, it always plays out the same. They are all enthusiastic about Angry Birds. They check out some of the arcade games I have. Only to end up playing the game I also end up playing no matter how many games I discover on the way. The game that you also probably have on your iPhone. The one and only, Temple Run.

I can’t really explain what’s so captivating about endless running games. But this I can say: Temple Run was the first game I played on my iPhone. And it’s still one of my favorite games. So, what do you do when you really, really like a game? Besides playing it day and night. You try to find other similar games. And that’s exactly what I did. The result…let me just tell you this: I’m surprised there’s no special Endless Running Games section yet in the [...]

So yes, we’ve seen our share of weather apps on the iPhone. They’re all apps that display either too little information or are complex loads of information that only a meteorologist would appreciate. But not Solar. This iPhone weather app will incorporate all the necessary weather information you might be actually interested in knowing into one attractive and minimal design. It doesn’t try to hide information under some sort of options. Rather, through a sleek and useful UI, you have more information that you would expect after opening the app.

Solar will display by default the current time, the local temperature and location and a description of the current weather conditions. All this on a sifting abstract background that intuitively uses colors and animations to visually give you an idea of the outside weather and time [...]

If you’re tired of farming, cows, tractors and other country-side chores, but still enjoy these multiplayer simulation games, then perhaps it’s time to move into the future. 2020: My Country is the iPhone and iPad game that lets you build and maintain your very own futuristic country. You’ll need to build, hire, expand, deal with disasters and accidents and take your nation to new heights. Oh yes, in case you’re wondering, you can visit your friends’ futurist countries as well. Ready? Go!

To say the least, 2020: My country is one big complex game. The mechanics of game play can hardly be covered in one small review, although the idea is simple enough. Your basic task is to build your country by expanding from one small island to multiple interconnected land masses. You have at your disposal several types of buildings [...]

There were so many great games this month that, honestly, it was pretty hard to pick just 5 of them. Plus, they are all free. So, we sat down, got in front of our iPhones and iPads, and started playing one game after another. And after hours of playing, while going through all sorts of different games, here are the best 5 we came across this month.

Even if we already reviewed Pudding Monsters this month, it is too good of a game not to include it in this chart. Actually, it is the best game we came across in May. I, for one, only have a few levels to play until finishing the game, and I still haven’t found any flaw with the whole experience. I don’t like to use big words like “perfect,” but Pudding Monsters is as close to perfection as it gets.

In case you missed our review of Pudding Monsters, you should know that it is a classical puzzle [...]

Just when I thought the Fruit Ninja frenzy passed, I came across Kung Food Fighter. Which is, in short, the lite version of Fruit Ninja. But with a potential of becoming just as addictive.

The goal of Kung Food Fighter is to slash as many fruits as you can in 90 seconds. The more fruits you slash, the more points you earn. And that’s pretty much the only rule. Because, unlike Fruit Ninja, with Kung Food Fighter, no matter how many fruits you miss, the game won’t be over until your 90 seconds are up. So, in a way it’s easier, because you know that no matter what you do, you still have time to make up for the fruits you missed. But can you handle not being number 1 among your friends on Facebook, when you compare scores or compete against each other? And that’s how the Kung Food Fighter frenzy can [...]

For most of us, the App Store is all about Games, Books, Entertainment, Social Networking, some Utility apps, plus Travel and Food, when you’re planning a trip or a night out. I really don’t know if any of my friends have any Reference apps on their devices. And to my shame, I must admit for a long time I didn’t even know there was a Reference category in the AppStore. If only I knew about these apps when I had to write my Dissertation Paper. Researching would have been so much easier.

There are a lot of interesting Reference apps. From search engines to all sorts of dictionaries, guides, and an extremely cool family tree app, I found everything here extremely useful. But what caught my eye was a dictionary. Imagine that! Something so ordinary as a dictionary. Except there’s nothing ordinary about Dictionary.com Dictionary and Thesaurus for [...]
