Poo Fight!

By Bogdan Lazar   December - 15 - 2010    See more Apps inApp Reviews, Games & Entertainment   7 Comments

I have to admit this has got to be one of the best designed games I’ve seen in a while and had a chance to review. People will tell you that it might seem childish. After all, throwing poo at people literally can’t be taken light-heartedly in a game. The AppStore has its own strict rules to get approved as a developer there, but I have to say it would have been a shame on their part to let us miss a great title like Monkey Poo.

First off, try and get past the idea of the game. You have to throw balls of your own poo at elderly people, moms and their new-born babies, girls and boys eating their ice-cream and cute animals. There’s no easy way to put this, but get over it. Monkey Poo is definitely worth it.
In the game, you have to hit as many people with your balls of poo as you can. These are your primary targets, as they walk [...]

There’s no shortage of alien movies coming out of Hollywood. You of course remember Steven Spielberg’s E.T. or War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise. What sets these movies apart is the way they portray extra-terrestrial intelligence. Good vs. Bad. Invaders vs. Friendly. The AppStore has its own stack of iPhone games that deal with this controversial issue. One of the latest to come out is Kill Aliens, which, judging solely by its name, you would bet that aliens are bad, they are invading, and, well, it’s up to you to stop that from happening.

Kill Aliens has just about the simplest screens I’ve ever seen. You don’t even have a menu for the game. Once you start it up, you have to choose the difficulty level (Easy, Medium, Hard) and after that you’re already in the middle of the game. That’s two touches from the [...]

Blaze Through Some Manga-Style Gaming With Blazing Arc – Magical Shooting Game

Manga fans rejoice! Blazing Arc – Magical Shooting Game comes to your iPhone packed in an intense arcade-style horizontal shooter, featuring creative artwork with a touch of Manga.

I wasn’t entirely clear on what the story was all about after reading the description from the AppStore. Upon starting up the game, there is a not-so-short intro that does its best to explain the plot, but without much success either. I guess we just have to take it at face-value and play the game itself.

In Blazing Arc, you must guide Blaze as she travels back in time to discover the truth about her mother and be reunited with her. In this quest, her mother sent a flying broom stick and a spirit trapped in a magic lantern to bring Blaze back to her, hundreds of years in the past.

There’s basically only one control that you [...]

Server failures happen frequently, and even though they go unnoticed most of the times, IT guys always want to know what and why it happened and managers want to know how much it cost the business. DT Calculator from Storagepipe attempts to deal with the second part of the inquiry. DT Calculator allows users to calculate the cost of server failure by correlating various constants that define their business, such as Yearly Revenue, Business Hours in a Year and employee data.

The iPhone app features just one screen where you need to focus your attention. Fill in as little as six fields and the app calculates loss for you. Fields include Yearly Revenue, Business Hours in a Year, Impact on Sales, Number of Employees Affected, Average Employee Cost per Hours and Average Percentage They Are Affected. [...]

Angry Birds: iPhone App Review.

Beware, these angry birds may well make you angry! Well, only if you get as frustrated at your lack of ability to accurately launch little birdies into blocks and pigs. Simple concept: launch different types of birds, with different characteristics, into structures with the aim of destroying the pigs.

CuteTag – As Useful As It Is Cute

Productivity apps are in no way in short supply in the iTunes AppStore. ToDos, organization apps, note-taking, all you need is at the touch of your finger tips. A lot of them however offer perhaps too a complex solution for what is too simple a problem. If all you need is a way to write your ideas down and have an easy way to categorize each, then CuteTag might prove to be your answer.

CuteTag is a note-taking app at heart, but instead of relying on complex systems of categorization, it only does it one way: tagging. The developers’ idea seemed to be that it “allows you to explore your personal information in a way your natural brain does, by logical links.” (read full press release here). These logical links they assumed to be tags.

Other apps out there offer tagging as a way to keep track of your thoughts [...]
