With new and improved graphics, Toobz is challenging you to yet another interesting puzzle game for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Create your own system of pipes in a tetris-like game style, and start the water after making sure there are no exit pipes to leave it running on the board.

The game offers you two game styles, while keeping the core idea of the game the same. Toobz presents you with a grassy field and the water source on a random spot on the board. That’s where you have to start to build-up your toobz. In “Classic Toobz” mode, you are revealed the upcoming piece at the top of the screen. This gives you a heads-up on what your next move should be in planning the pipe-system. In “Show Toobz” mode, the game offers you the next four pieces that are to be placed on the board. But don’t be fooled into thinking this is your game-solver right there, as you must think and move quickly, as the timer counts down. If you run out of time, the water is turned on and begins to flow through your toobz. The game is over when it spills on the board.

Skype comes forth as the main provider of VoIP services worldwide, even with its close competitor offering similar services Truphone. While Skype wanted to maintain a certain level of consistency across all platforms, the development team didn’t manage to surprise us with most of the features, and although a few capabilities are notably missing, iPhone users will be glad to see a couple of improvements for Skype on this platform.

As with the PC/MAC version, Skype’s screens come well organized and with added capabilities to rearrange your contacts through filters, sort contacts alphabetically or see only who’s online. VoIP calling comes free of charge between two Skype users, while calling landlines or mobile phones will get you into buying SkypeOut credit online. $10 worth of credit will get you more than enough talk-time to not only try out call quality, but also stay on the phone for hours without spending a dime with your cell network company.

With LinkedIn being the most powerful social network built for professionals and the iPhone quickly becoming a high-demand for business professionals, it was inevitable for the development team at LinkedIn to tap into such an already-highly-targeted market. Although the iPhone app is not amongst the most downloaded apps in the AppStore, it shouldn’t matter that much for a professional that’s looking to increase network visibility, is always on the run and wants to stay in touch with updates in his or her own network.

LinkedIn for the iPhone allows you to set and edit your status for others to see, add a new contact, view your connections’ profiles and gives you access to your LinkedIn news feeds. One of the most useful features of the app is its on-the-go access to important contact information from your connections. If you’re about to head on to an interview, with LinkedIn for the iPhone you can learn more about the person your about to meet and the company itself.

Forget those shopping lists on crumbled-up paper that you always seem to misplace on the way to the supermarket. Grocery shopping is essential to getting the family through the week, and dealing with that crumbled up paper filled with lists of items needed, jotted down basically in a random order. With ShopShop for the iPhone and iPod Touch, all you need to worry about is where you park your car.

The iPhone app gives you full control over your shopping needs, making it as easy as possible to transpose those empty shelves in the fridge into your iPhone or iPod Touch, and stay on top of things at the supermarket. ShopShop is more than a simple customized ToDo application. Its features are specifically targeted at managing shopping lists.

An all-too-simple To Do manager

For a To Do list manager and task organizer, Erica Sadun’s ToDo simply cannot survive in a business environment that calls for a multi-function and more complex task manager. The iPhone app offers a limited set of functionality, what you’d call your basic task manager on the iPhone, something with a little more usability than the native Notes.

ToDo for iPhone gives you the ability to quickly add tasks, set a priority for each and add notes to remember their function. For a basic overview, functionality goes as far as your buck can reach, and for a free app it does offer enough to get you started. We’d certainly make it worthwhile downloading for its fast access and usability.

One of the all time favorites messengers, Yahoo Messengers made it quickly to the top of most downloaded iPhone and iPod Touch apps in the Appstore. All the smileys and emoticons, chatting for hours with your friends, IM and SMS messages, update your status, add new contacts and share photos with our friends, Yahoo Messenger for the iPhone has all the features you enjoy on the web-based application on your desktop.

With YM for iPhone, you have all the features of the popular Yahoo Messenger, including the option to send an SMS straight from the iPhone, using your Yahoo Address book. You can set your status as invisible, busy or customize it just as you normally would. The archive feature is also supported as you can see past conversations even after logging out of the app. Sorting your contact list or showing and hiding your offlines are also an inherent feature of the iPhone app.

With Melodica from iPhone developers CandyCane, the makers of Fuzzle, you don’t need to be the new Mozart, although this little musical gem will let you play that little crazy genius on the keyboard. This app is the iPhone matrix synthesizer to keep around when all you need is a nice break and have some good old fashioned fun, whether a composer, music lover or a simple bystander.

No song sheets or tabs are necessary, and even if you’re a novice or the next Mozart, you can have endless fun with this little gadget. The idea behind this iPhone app is simple and all it takes is some rhythmical tapping on a number of squares, lights will pop up letting you know a note will be played at that point. Just plug in your headphones and start tapping the boxes to create your masterpiece. It’s so simple, we believe anyone can do it, and the iPhone app, although definitely incomparable to FruityLoops, comes as close as possible to making pretty nice beats with its limited tone sets.
