With so many Santa apps being released now in the AppStore it’s been a true delight to see that amongst the Top Free Apps is not actually a singing Santa, or a dancing Santa, or worse any type of farting Santa. Traffic Rush is actually a very entertaining game that takes after Air Traffic Controller, only your a policeman standing in the middle of the street directing traffic.

For some reason the traffic lights are not working, so it’s up to you to tell each car when to cross the intersection and when to stop. The good thing is you don’t have to follow the normal, real-life traffic rules. In fact, the only rule you need to know is that cars should not be crashing. Other than that, play God!

There are a few controls you need to know. You can tell a car to stop by tapping on it once, tell it to continue on the same path, by tapping it [...]

Strimko Is Part Of The New Wave In Puzzle Gaming

Ok, I must admit this one was a toughie. I’m not taking pride in a Einstein-like brain, but do expect a challenge from Strimko, the number puzzle game from Grabarchuk Puzzles. I was never a math-whiz, but I do generally well on puzzle games, even though they are not my favorite gaming genre.

Strimko is a number puzzle game that introduces a whole new twist for the classic Latin Squares number concept (think the all-popular Sudoku). The object with Strimko is to fully fill the board with the missing numbers observing a few rules. First off, note that the numbers are not on a linear grid, but rather the numbers are placed on “streams,” their spots united through a line. You still have to watch out for rows and columns so that they all contain unique numbers across, but with Strimko, the third rule [...]

Fiddle Your Fingers With This Nifty Puzzle Game

I re-iterate my previous post. It’s puzzle-mania for me! Now I’m back to Tangrams (I was totally in the dark about this ancient Chinese game until LetsTans), but currently found a new appetite for this type of puzzles. Thankfully, Cross Fingers is here to quench my hunger, and I’m here to tell you that it’s a doozie. The game will have you twisting and twiddling your fingers in no time, hence a really effective name: Cross Fingers.

The game borrows some of the ideas from the Tangrams puzzles, but offers a completely new twist to the game. Instead of placing pieces altogether to fit a specific shape, or finding the shape amidst all the tiles on the board, the twist here is that the whole board is a trap. You’re given the task to fit pieces available on the board onto a given shape, but you can only do [...]

That’s What Square Puzzling On The iPhone Is All About

It’s kind of an end-of-the-year puzzle frenzy for me. Since I last reviewed LetsTans I’ve been checking out other cool games to make my little brain tick. I stumbled across FruitBlox just yesterday and I haven’t put the iPhone down yet. The game basics are simple, the graphics are sweet and funny with a little cartoonish touch, and the animation sprites are well done. And the best thing of it (or perhaps the worst, depends how you look at it), it’s addictive!

With FruitBlox, you have to make squares of fruits and vegetables, in such a way as to have the corners of the square mimic the same fruit or veggie. When you match all four corners, making a straight line in between them, anything caught in between disappears from the board, and you score points. The more squares you make, the more points [...]

If you remember my review of Ice Age 3D (yes, the game that really disappointed), well, then pay close attention here. This new release is a must-have for any true iPhone gaming lover, not to mention Ice Age fan. Upon seeing the screens in the previews, I just knew I’d love the game, and I wasn’t wrong at all. This adventure game is fantastic on all levels, from stunning graphics and hilarious sound effects, to a truly exciting gameplay.

Ice Age Dawn Of The Dinosaurs is nothing like it’s predecesor. Usually, you think of games that are tied to movie releases as unpolished, uncreative and rough ad pitches only meant to promote the movie itself. I’m glad it’s definitely not the case with Ice Age. The game doesn’t mirror the movie and that worked towards its benefit. Within minutes of firing up the game [...]

How To Play Tangrams In A Whole New Exciting Way

All you need is an iPhone and LetsTans. Upon first being asked to review this game, I must admit I was a bit in the dark about Tangrams, what they are and the basics of the game. And after playing LetsTans for the first time I was still a bit in the dark. And my point here is that this is the main downside of LetsTans. It assumes that you already know what Tangrams are and how the game is played, as the first screen that pops out upon opening the app is the different puzzles you can solve. Tapping on any of them will take you to the actual puzzle, and you will get a board filled with colorful shapes and no real clue as to what you’re up against. The clock is ticking nevertheless, and you find yourself tapping on the shapes until you see the little plus sign at the bottom of the screen. Alas, [...]

A Clever Use Of MultiTouch With Mach Ball

mach-ball-iphone-game-review

With Mach Ball, your task is to guide the ball to the end zone by drawing lines on the screen to reflect it and make it go the right direction. The ball is always moving and accelerating, and hitting your line at just the right angle will make it go faster, or, on the contrary, slow it down. There’s ofcourse a time element involved and various bonuses for collecting items along the way. Bottom line is your highscore for completing the level in seconds.

The way you draw walls to reflect the ball is simple enough. Touching the iPhone’s screen in two spots will draw a line on the screen between those two hotspots and the wall is thus created. Once the ball reaches it, it will reflect accordingly. The catch is that you can only draw one wall at any given time, drawing another one will erase the one [...]
