Have Yourself Some Fun With JigglePic

By Bogdan Lazar   December - 23 - 2012    See more Apps inApp Reviews, Games & Entertainment   No Comments

Bored out of your mind? I bet you are. The AppStore has already closed down for new app releases and iTunes Connect doesn’t allow any more app promotions. But there are still free apps out there that may have slipped under your radar. JigglePic is one of them. The app lets you distort faces in photos and make the entire thing move like jello with the shake of the iPhone.

There’s not much to using JigglePic and that’s one of the reasons why it’s so cool. Start the app and you can immediately test it out on a preloaded stock photo of a girl. Touch her face and drag away to distort it. Make her look like an elf with pointy ears, or fatten her up. When you’re done laughing, shake your device or pinch the photo to make it boune around like jello.

You can of course load your own photos. That’s what makes it funny! You can turn your friends into weirdos and then shake the [...]

Mind-blowing graphics. Amazing sound effects and medieval background music. Great game-play and fantastic mechanics. These are a few of the adjectives I’d use to describe Reign of Conquerors for the iPhone, a MMORPG that truly shines. It’s available for free right now in the AppStore and is compatible with both your iPhone and iPad. iPhone5 included.

Although the game has a moderately high level of complexity, its learning curve is suprisingly low. You can pick up the basics in just under 2 minutes of play by completing the first guided quests like building your first structure, training your first units and sending them to battle. After that, through the use of quests, you’re easily guided step by step with the rest of the game.

Follow along with the game’s quests, step by step and you will likely build a strong kingdom. There are 5 types of quests. The Recommended quests are the ones you should be paying close [...]

O Youtube, Youtube! Wherefore Art Thou Youtube?

youtube-iphone-app-review

Since Apple’s iOS6 upgrade, users have had to deal with the Maps conspiracy, but not a lot of people actually paid attention to Youtube being removed as a pre-installed app on their devices. It seemed to me like a silly move from Apple, an attempt to set back Google a few months by removing all their preinstalled apps from users’ devices. Google did come back with a Maps app that got approved by the Apple review team last week. They also released an Youtube app, even before the Maps app, but not a lot of people have been happy with it. This includes yours truly. I believe the native app is inferior to its web app counterpart.

As you would expect from Google, the design for their native app is fantastic. You can enjoy Youtube’s video catalog, search for videos or channels (voice search included), read comments and browser related videos. Sign in [...]

As you all probably know by now, the most popular SF series continues. And although not everybody is confident that Disney is the best choice for continuing the Star Wars series, I bet everybody is excited to see what awaits their favorite characters of all time. But, since we have a couple of years more to see this dream come true, what better way to fill the void than playing one of the most popular games ever created. Especially since the latest release is specially dedicated to Star Wars. Still don’t know what I’m talking about? Then just go to the AppStore to download Angry Birds Star Wars and find out for yourself.

As if that would need clarifying…Angry Birds Star Wars is exactly what you’d expect to get from the merger of two icons: a beautifully designed game, with the same addictive game play, all combined [...]

Checkers is one of the best known and most played board games ever invented. Your great grandparents played it, your grandparents, your mother and father, and probably even you played Checkers at least once in your life. But how about taking the old, classic game to a new level? What if, instead of the regular Checkers pieces, there were actual robots fighting each other? This is no SF scenario. It’s MECHers.

Simply put, MECHers is Checkers with robots. The rules are the same as with regular Checkers. The game keeps the same simple, and yet attractive game play. But, playing with robots brings another twist to the game that makes it more fun, more exciting, and definitely more action packed.

MECHers is basically still a board game with 24 pieces that can only be moved diagonally through the dark colored squares. But, MECHers can be comfortably [...]

If you’ve followed along with our IFTTT article last week, you’ve seen how easy it is to set up some simple email notifications for when your favorite blog (Appbite, wink, wink) posts a new article. But what happens if you have more than a few blogs you’re following and they’re all pretty active publishers? WEll, the gist of it is that you’ll see a ton of email coming to your account. That may be fine for some of us who live in our Inbox, but for others, email is counter-productive. But fear not, there’s an easy way to stay up to date with Appbite and other blogs without worrying about email overload. Enter RSS readers.

In short, a RSS reader is a piece of software, desktop, mobile or browser-based, that allows its users to read RSS and atom feeds. Whenever a blog or publication that supports these types of feeds (and they pretty much all do have it) [...]

Stay On Top Of Your 3G and WiFi Data Usage

With so much of our lives now spent online and our iPhone becoming our trusty companion for nearly everything and everywhere, one of the issues is data usage and costs. Carriers will normally display 3G data usage information, but you need to go to their website and check that out. Most often than not, those websites are really not mobile-friendly. Not to mention, there’s no real time stats or any data available for WiFi usage. This is where Download Meter comes in. It’s a nice piece of app that will pull together 3G data usage as well as WiFi usage in one easy to navigate window. While its utility can’t be negated, I have some concerns over the app actually becoming a burden in some situations. An extra step necessary when navigating the web, if you will.

Once you donwload the app from the AppStore, you’ll be taken through a nice little tutorial [...]
