Amoveo iPhone App Review.
With the huge surge in apps that make use of your photos and let you take photos and share them with your friends right from your iPhone (Instagram, I’m looking at you), I always wanted to see an app that would let me create beautiful slideshows of all the photos that I’m [...]
It should be clear by the end of this short review that ContactsXL for the iPhone is one of the most complete contacts manager applications available on the App Store. It packs a few handy features like contacts sorting and syncing with Facebook, but there’s more than meets the eye.
Promoting itself as a full featured contact manager, ContactsXL may very well have all that you need to organize your contacts, plus a few features you didn’t even know you needed. It’s of course up to you if actually do need them. For me, ContactsXL seemed like it wanted to pack in too many things at once, but what saved it was that nearly every feature is fully implemented and they work great together.
To go through a full-fledged review of all the features that ContactsXL packs would be beyond the scope of this review, but it is worth noting them down. So, in no [...]
Ah, I remember the cool and addictive flash game where you had to control a helicopter and fly it around the screen and avoiding obstacles. You had to continually click your mouse to make it fly. The reason it was so addictive was because I couldn’t really control it for more than 20 or so seconds, so it was a race against myself to beat a record.
While I’ve seen this type of game in the App Store before (I’ve even reviewed one here), I must say that DoodlePlane has a few more tricks up its sleeve.
Apart from being able to choose between a bunch of different planes you can fly, you also have 10 worlds to fly it through. Once you start the game, hitting play will get you to the first world: New York City.
So you have your plane. And you have your world. Now what? There are basically just two controls for you to master. With one button you control the plane’s [...]
Remember what I’ve been telling you about innovating age-old concepts? Well, I’m going to say it again. There’s no value in a game that doesn’t innovate, that doesn’t, in a way, create emotion. I don’t know about you, but for me emotion stems from innovation. I always like to see and play a game on my iPhone that brings something new to the table. The bigger the table, the higher the motivation for developers to innovate and stand out. And guess what, the App Store table is pretty darn big. Few developers seem to make it, but the ones that do are truly noteworthy.
Today I’m going to honor such a developer with a truly creative game. So without further a due, please take a bow to The Blackhole – a connect-three type of game that changed my perspective on connect-three games.
Yes, at its core, The Blackhole is just a connect-three type [...]
You’ve probably seen this type of game before. And even played it. Yes, you may be addicted to it. Whatever it’s called, your addiction needs a new name. And that name is AstroJam – a cute iPhone game featuring cute graphics and cute sounds. Did I just say cute thrice?
The idea of the game is simple. You control a flying saucer with your typical green alien in it. You fly around the galaxy minding your own business, but you’re not alone. There are asteroids everywhere and it’s up to you to keep your green buddy safe.
They way you do this is by moving the flying saucer around the screen, avoiding the asteroids. You basically use your finger to drag and slide the ship around the iPhone’s screen.
The longer you survive, the faster the asteroids move. Don’t worry though, there are power-ups to help you along the way. Collect the shield to keep you safe [...]
Wow! Just wow! It’s been a while since a played game that made me say this. The App Store is surely filled with a bunch of poor apps and games, but once in a while, there’s that once concept that I tend to over-appreciate, but for good reason. Pengi is that one concept that made me stare at my iPhone wherever and whenever I had the chance and the time.
What’s so neat about it then? Well, the puzzles are short and to the point. You can play it for hours on end, you can play a quick game when you’re waiting in line at the supermarket, or you can solve a puzzle while commuting. The game is slick and it moves fast. There are no hiccups (that I’ve uncovered yet) and it has a slow learning curve.
It’s still a puzzle game, so it will take the best out of you to complete, but it certainly won’t leave you pulling [...]
