All Good Deeds Come At A Cost. But Not This One!

You’ve been sitting in your comfy chair reading these reviews. It’s time you did something good for others. So if you’re thinking that there’s no way you can reach people in Asia, Africa or even much closer communities to your home without serious research and some effort on your part, well, you’re wrong. So was I, until I came across a nifty little iPhone app that did just that. It provided the incentive, the mobile, and the choice, all together in one. It’s called CauseWorld and they’re serious about providing you with a cause you can help out with.

CauseWorld is free to download right now on your iPhone or iPod Touch. Just head on to the AppStore and you can start to help prevent child abuse, provide clear water or help with worldwide crises, for starters. The cool thing about it is that you won’t have to spend [...]

Exotic Locations. Relaxing Music. Childhood Memories. Skipping Stones!

I don’t know about you, but when I get glimpses of my childhood in my dreams, I’m always at my grandparents house at the country side. I can’t say I lived much in a big city when I was growing up, but I take that as a good thing. I remember my grandparents had a small pond in the backyard, and since at 4-5 years old I wasn’t much of a fisher, the only other activity that really had me coming back there was skipping stones across the surface of that small pond. The first time they taught me how to do that it seemed like I was never going to get it. Pick such and such stone, make sure its shape is so and so, look for this angle, time your wrist movement. Now that I think of it, it didn’t take me long before I was a pro at it, skipping as much as 7-9 per throw. Ok, I don’t know what the standard is, and no one was [...]

The iPhone App That Proves We’re All Kids At Heart

While the developers branded the app as a “Children’s App On The iPhone For The Festive Season,” I found it to be much more than that. Sure enough the Christmasy backgrounds, the Gingerbread Man himself, the colors and the graphics – they all point to a child’s idea of an app. But at Christmas time, we’re all kids. We’re all waiting for Santa, so why shouldn’t we all enjoy a great app release – Dress Jinjee.

This iPhone app allows you to dress and decorate the Gingerbread Man and share him with your friends and family. At first sight, there’s not much to this release, but the features that come with it including a wide selection of decorations for Jinjee (yes, that’s his name now, although a bit tacky) , colorful backdrops and the awesome feature to record your own note and send it along with the card, make [...]

Being Christmas and all, there’s one movie that I always watch around this time of the year: Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas. It’s a true holiday classic and one of my favorites. When I saw the game in the AppStore, it was without hesitation that I purchased it. Grinchmas is a fun game for all ages where you take control of the Grinch himself and throw snowballs, or presents as the case may be, at the Who houses down below.

Depending on how you’re feeling, you can choose to play the nice mode as the Merry Grinch or the, well, not-so-nice mode being Mean Grinch. In the nice mode, you’ll be sending presents to all the Whos that are waiting for Christmas in their own houses. In the naughty mode, take a grip of yourself and don’t let that heart of yours get any bigger! Those Whos are making way too much [...]

In the spirit of the holiday season, I decided to try out a fun relaxing game, and step out a bit from the puzzle-mania trance I’m still fighting with. It’s actually quite difficult to get a hold of games that work for and not against the user, games that are simple, easy to play and have a certain doze of addiction embedded in them. Alas, the other day I came across Elf Command, which I am happy to say scores high in all those categories.

The premise of the game is quite simple. Santa needs your help, his robot elfs can’t quite handle the workload, so it’s up to you to help them sort out the presents and have them delivered to their rightful, future owners: all the good little boys and girls. I picked up on the controls and basics in seconds and off I was delivering those presents.

The game presents you with two [...]

We’ve all seen the success of Zippo, the virtual lighter, an app downloaded by a couple of hundreds of thousands of users around the world. The team over at mopimp are attempting to replicate that success with their new debut app: Jesus Candle. They’re pitching the app as the first from a forthcoming line of virtual votive candles that you can safely light on your iPhone and iPod Touch.

Perhaps the main argument for this iPhone app is its realistic flame movements and glows, as well as the higly detalied graphics and sprites. The flickering flame will glow and lighten the beautifully rendered backdrop. The app highlights some of the functionalities of the iPhone, with the InApp Purchase being at the forefront. You start off with one candle burning, with the option to buy additional candles from the Candle Shop [...]

FunMail Suggests Funny Photos To Go With Your SMS

The iPhone app is meant to give you the option to add relevant images to outgoing text messages, turning SMS into MMS. There shouldn’t be any news that SMS is more used than MMS, nor should there be any questions as to why this is so. SMS is faster, it’s cheaper, and honestly, I don’t always have time and patience to go through my iPhone’s camera roll to pick that photo that goes with my message. In comes FunMail to get the job done for me. It analyzes the outgoing SMS, meaning its content, and suggests great and funny pictures from its own repository to go with your text.

The app is designed so that as users type their message, it will automatically present cute and comical images that relate to your message. The messages contain the user’s own text rendered onto the image, that creates that one [...]
