splojit-iphone-game-review

Combining sounds and colors will literally drive you nuts in this memory-test iPhone game. Splojit has its roots in the popular web-based game Simon Sez but the ported game on the iPhone beats all odds and gives the user an indeed unique experience, incomparable to its forefather.

For those that don’t know about Simon Sez, the basic idea is simple enough. As soon as you start the game, you’re shown a sequence of colored spots flashing on the screen, each playing a differently pitched sound. Simply repeat the sequence to get to the next one. While Simon Sez only has four colors, with Splojit you have an entire board of 4 x 4 possibilities (think Wack A Mole). Also, with Splojit you have to watch out for the timer if you want to get a high score. So keep your reflexes close at hand and you’re all set.[...]

A steady hand, a carefully thought-out strategy and perfect timing are the sole requirements to complete a rather different sort of puzzle game. Upside Down gives you full control over the action and however you want to play it. If at first glance, Upside Down is just your average maze-type game, the combination of tilt-controls and touch-screen will astound and give you a rather unique experience with a simple game that will flip your world upside down.

The game is set in the future, in outer-space, and it seems that your character, Bob the junk collector, has awakened an evil alien from his intergalactic slumber. Your task is to find Bob’s way out of the space station and onto safety and protection from the evil creature. To save Bob, you have to guide him through the 60 levels of increasing [...]

balance-iphone-app-review

I know I do. And I wanted the simplest method to do this. Just one simple app that I can enter amounts as either withdrawals or deposits. If you’re on the move constantly, if you’re traveling, then roaming charges for checking your account is the last thing you need. While roaming through the App Store the other day, I found just the app for this. Balance for the iPhone or iPod Touch will play its part simple and effectively.

It’s designed simply to take away the fuss of keeping track of your account with pieces of paper crumbled up in various corners of your wallet. The app maintains a list of credits and debits to your account’s balance. Of course, it’s up to you to log in any new transaction that occurs, but Balance will automatically recalculate the account’s balance. This way, keeping [...]

It’s no secret game simulators have had a big impact on the iPhone’s gaming development. Great titles such as iBowl or Waterslide Extreme, to name a few, have made it to the top of the App Store, and even if they don’t have a huge fan base, they still rely on a pretty stable user base. iFishing is simply one of these games that doesn’t amaze everyone, and couldn’t appeal to any gamer, but that clearly reels in, so to speak, quite enough users to live up to standards.

iFishing is a mobile fishing simulator that provides a realistic and in-depth fishing experience for the iPhone. To put it bluntly, your iPhone is your fishing rod, and the game itself is your pond. Any fisherman will tell you that’s all you need: a fishing rod, lure and water. Sure, luck does play its part in the real world, [...]

worms-iphone-game-review

Definitely one of my favorite games as a kid was the first edition of Worms. I say the first edition because that’s all my 32MB of RAM and 400Mhz processor could take. But I pushed that computer to the limits with Armageddon and World Party. I can’t say I’ve taken a liking to the 3D version that much, even after upgrading to a much nicer system, but I can surely agree that I’ve really jumped out of my seat when I saw Worms available in the App Store. Finally, the game that I could play while waiting in line at the groceries and before going to bed as well, without getting bored. A game that provides me with something different every time I play it. Yes, these little guys have really infested my iPhone.

For those of you who don’t know what Worms is (shame on you!), the game is a turn [...]

…consult with OffMaps, the cheapest way to get travel information and routes wherever you are. Due to not-so-cheap roaming charges on 3G, Google Maps is not the best way to get around when it comes to mapping and directions. With OffMaps on your iPhone or iPod Touch, quit worrying about costs and concentrate on the road. The app lets you access maps and location bookmarks wherever you are, and best of all, they’re available right on your device without the need to go online for the info. The maps are stored directly on your iPhone so you can easily avoid over-crowding your bill with data roaming charges from your network provider. OffMaps includes GPS, multiple zoom leves, location bookmarking and a neat search function.

One first thing to note about OffMaps is that it uses OpenStreetMap, a free editable map of the globe [...]
