Disney Infinity: Toy Box 2.0 icon

Disney’s main job has been, for decades, to turn childhood fantasy worlds into reality. And now, it looks like it’s taken yet another step forward in its mission to make childhood as magical as it can be. With Disney Infinity: Toy Box 2.0.

Ups: Disney Infinity: Toy Box 2.0 is a classic Disney masterpiece. I am not a child anymore, and still I got lost for a couple of hours in the Disney fantasy world. Picture all your favorite Disney characters being brought to life in a world you can create just the way you want it, as you can imagine it. With Disney Infinity: Toy Box 2.0 not only can you create your fantasy world, but you also send your toys on exploration quests to collect all sorts of items, and gain experience. Or on fighting missions to save kidnapped princesses. Driving races. And the list goes on. If you can dream it, you can do it.

From time to time, comes an app that leaves me absolutely amazed, and impressed. This week it’s the Khan Academy’s app that is absolutely fabulous. Not only that you can use it to learn Maths, Chemistry, Economics, Art, History, and almost anything for free, as the name of the app states it right from the start. But you can do all this in a fun, creative manner, without having to move an inch from your favorite spot in the house.

Khan Academy’s app is a must-have tool for any student. It helps you learn about all sorts of History, Art, and Science topics, by reading papers provided by important cultural sources like The British Museum, California Academy of Science, American Museum of National History, Stanford School of Medicine, and the list goes on with about 15 other names. The papers are brief, extremely interesting, and reading them almost feels like taking the tour of a [...]

The Witcher Battle Arena icon

Although there are still a few months left until the release of The Witcher 3, many gamers seem to already be talking about it. So, I think The Witcher Battle Arena App Store game comes at a really good time. Especially for all of you Witcher fans out there who feel that May is not close enough.

Ups: If you enjoy(ed) playing strategy games like DOTA, or LOL, then you’re going to love The Witcher Battle Arena. Because this game is pure strategy. Pick your character, build your team, and start the battle of a lifetime. Your goal? Destroy the enemy base before they destroy yours. What do you need? Well, a good team to begin with. Which, depending on the game mode you choose (PvP, Coop vs AI, or Practice Mode), you can assemble yourself, or you are automatically assigned AI players on your team [...]

If you’re good with colors, and you’re looking for a nice challenge this week, then Shades is the game for you. The rules are easy, the design is simple, the controls are intuitive…pretty much everything about this game screams user-friendly. But Shades is not quite what I would call an easy game. It feels like a complete brain work-out. One you can enjoy this week totally free of charge.

I loved it that Shades is a straight-forward game. No complicated controls, numerous quests, or buttons all over the screen. In a couple of seconds, you find out all you need to know from a simple, and concise tutorial. Your goal is to make rows with blocks of the same color. When you stack blocks of the same color, the result is a darker colored block. And when you feel the pace is too slow for you, just swipe down to make the blocks fall faster. That’s all. The rest is up to [...]

When learning a new language, I find there are, at least, three approaches you can choose from: classical, artistic, and modern, let’s call them. Simply put, you can either start a course, buy books, dictionaries, and other useful materials. Visit a foreign country, and learn the language straight from the people, their movies, their traditions, and culture. Or download an app to help you. An app like Babbel.

Babbel helps you learn a foreign language, as fast as you can, without having to leave the comfort of your home. You can learn one or more languages out of the 13 the app currently offers, from Portuguese, Dutch, or Swedish to Turkish, Russian, or Indonesian. Learning a foreign language has never been more fun, comfortable, and easy than it is with [...]

Words on Tour icon

If you ever wondered how a word-forming game could be just as fun when you play it on your own, as it is when you’re playing against friends, then you should definitely take a look at Words on Tour.

Ups: Words on Tour is a level-based, word-forming game. And I find that to be really, really cool. Because, first of all, you have the incentive to try and earn as many points you need to clear each level. Then, you have all sorts of quests to keep you going. Like clearing a certain number of tiles, discovering the hidden phrase, trying to find the words you can form using all the tiles on a certain row, and so on.

There is always some new quest to complete, which makes the game extremely exciting, and also challenging. Especially since you have a limited number of moves you can use to clear each level. And, depending on the [...]
